Description
Strong winds are harmful in orchards, as they cause mechanical damage, tearing leaves and contributing to the spread of diseases, especially bacterial. The tendency of trees/young plants to grow to one side, opposite the prevailing wind, changing the plant’s center of gravity, can bring losses when breaking the advances, particularly in years of high production. Cold winds are also harmful as they can damage frost positions.
